If your child is a more than a year
behind in reading, individual tutoring
can be the most efficient way to catch up. This type of tutoring is great for families who WANT HIGHLY
to ensure your child will gain
the skills they need. Direct and
Systematic Teaching with daily goals
help your child gain phonics based
decoding skills and regain confidence
in reading and in general.
SMALL GROUP LEVEL 1
Does your child guess at words when reading? Do they drag their feet when asked to do their 20 minutes of reading for school? Level 1 is a great option for kids needing to get systematic instruction on how to use strategies to READ WORDS LIKE "PURPLE" or "DRAW" and "STUDENT". We can increase fluency and smoothness of reading highly decodable text at the 1st through 2nd grade reading levels.
SMALL GROUP LEVEL 2
Does your child find reading an unpleasant experience? Are they NOT CAREFUL? Do they struggle in school and read only the first syllable and mumble the end or guess when reading multi-syllabic words such as "considerable" or "intentional"? We have a reading program to systematically teach how to use strategies for such words and give opportunities to build automaticity and fluency in passage reading.
STAND ALONE OR IN TANDEM WITH READING TUTORING
Writing Tutoring can be addressed as a stand alone instruction OR be addressed by integrating writing with reading instruction. Writing is a complex cognitive skill.
Does your child struggle with varied vocabulary and being creative? Does your child struggle with grammar, capitalization, or punctuation? Does your child struggle with spelling and or handwriting? Smart Spot has writing programs and activities to support growth on the basics. This allows for your child to use the skills acquired and mastered in new and creative ways.
